Just wow! How difficult can it be to have a backup dedi server with the DB mirrored running at some other provider to quickly switch to, just in case? Even many simple web sites have a config like that. Clouds have been around for decades,

For programs that are permanently online, it is a good idea to have updating as a high preference. At least when your operating system is not doing the updating off all installed software automatically.

I don't think that the OS "war" will necessarily lead to an open, web based standard. It may well be that one of the contenders manages to make their "platform" so irresistible to users that they flock to that one OS, and we all will have a

"... and even uses the phone’s microphone to ‘listen’ to the ambient surroundings ..." Yeah, I definitely want an app that is listening to what I say all of the time. Great idea. The automatic Social Graph based on proximity is a good idea.

Personally, I would definitely not put AS units on a page that discusses my AS income. I'd consider it too risky (for the reason, see AS TOS).

The article gives the answer: because quite often it would just be embarrasing for the "journalist". So many stories get blown up/made bigger then they actually are, to get more clicks/readers for the story.

That would be great. However, we just spent a trillion dollars to destroy a few cities in some desert in the Middle East, killing some 100k people on the way. For some reason that seemed to be a better idea than exploring space. :( >

Google is for search. That's what people know. As long as Google published apps under their Google brand, they will not fly. The popular servics Google has (Blogger, YouTube, etc) run all under their own brand. If Google seriously wants to

They wanted software patents on trivial ideas. Now they have them and don't like them? Well, I hope the "troll" wins, maybe the big ones then start lobbying against "patents on ideas".
