I don't think it's optimistic. If a civilization, by the time it develops weapons of mass distruction, is overly agressive, it will likely destroy itself and not evolve into a space traveling civilization. Any intelligent live that manages

That is only partially true, I know of websites that have got themselves unblocked by doing exactly this. But honestly I don't want to discuss that with somebody starting his/her post with "Lol".

False alarm. I live in China. Just turned off my VPN and I can access the site, download the source and docs. Sometimes there are regional blocks in some provinces, that may be the case, can't test it. But they are not targeting simple numb

There are so many illegal things the US gov't has done in the past 10 years, one more doen't really matter. At least this time it didn't involve killing people.

"Art is anything you get away with" is my favourite definition. The artist should have used the valuation usually claimed by the media companies when dragging young kids to court and he'd have gotten a valuation of somewhere in the billions

What you describe and what shocked you is daily reality in most developing countries--poverty is ugly. During the next 2 years will be the handover of gov't to the next president and it will be up to him where China goes: the way of Brazil

Economic growth makes a few rich, and those can do whatever they want, especially in a society with low ethical standards. The executive or judical powers are neutralized with money (a.k.a. corruption).
