C++ has had ages to solve this problem, vcpkg and conan are still a ways away from the simplicity of cargo. Doesn't support binary libraries? I don't really care considering everything else I get, I'm sure they'll suppor

Used both vcpkg and conan, not comparable to the ease of use of cargo. Needed some high performance code last year, wrote it all in c++. This year migrated to Rust, will never look back. C++ is going to need to break things if they want to

> I think C++ can do anything Rust can do, and I would like it to be much simpler to use You're going to need to break c++ then. It is so much harder to use than Rust today, I have no idea why anyone would choose c++. The libraries

The c++ library argument is funny to me because it’s so incredibly difficult to import external projects in c++. This is where Rust is going to eat their lunch.

Yea I don’t think it’s even comparable, and with c++ it’s still a nightmare to import anything not to mention having to deal with the horribly awkward syntax they have accumulated over the years

Yes, if an employer doesn’t understand how to look at my GitHub then they aren’t worth my time.

So due to how Go handles memory, it needs to do something called "trampoline", over to the C stack. This causes Go->C calls to have a substantial overhead 70-200ns/op. Most other languages that value is closer to 1ns. This

I feel where they are trying to go with this, I wrote https://github.com/aunum/gold in Go because of all the nice parts of Go. This solves some of the pain points but is still fatally flawed as any other Go ML tool in

Google very much does not own Kubernetes. They have vested interest in a number of SIGs but the SIGs have been good about preventing the chairs from being Google dominated. Redhat, Microsoft and vmware are major contributors to the product.

I think we can all agree that C++ is a dragon that needs to be slain here. Swift could potentially get close to that for most of the needs, but I still wouldn't bet data scientists would write swift.

Yep this is the key, its not really the data science end its the engineering piece.
