As long as you can connect the id to one single client / user, it is PII. It does not matter, where this id comes from, a random hash, an encrypted IP adress. If it's unique, it's PII. If you only save it on the server, not o

Really impressive, and de-motivating for me! :) I was working on something similar as a side project. The only information that was not easy to get, because it was not delivered with every DNS request, is the "expiration date". Ho

I cannot talk for the whole industry, but I know for sure, that I (working in BigData / OnlineMarketing) was looking for exactly this recently: A BI tool that is agile and a database that is fast. I ended up with Tableau Server and Cli

Not that easy. If any of the above mentioned information is not "personal data", it's not GDPR relevant. Also GDPR does not require an "export option" to export data ad hoc. The site owner must provide personal (!)

This is fun to read. Are there ressources where you can read stories like that, how people discovered security flaws?

I am a tab minimalist, but still i am looking forward to this. Been using this in the official release for a while now (activate it via chrome:flags). Only thing i am missing is persistency (keep the group if tabs are closed) and some kind

Not surprising, as cookies were not meant for tracking, but for simple e-commerce purposes (like keep the shopping cart). What really surprises me is that everytime someone is complaining about advertising and whatsoever: it's always t

That's why I was asking. A billion dollar company using CURL in a commercial environment [1], and that's how they say "Thank you"? [1] https://curl.haxx.se/docs/companies.html

For authors the access barrier is pretty high, IMHO. It seems like there are millions of authors and posts fighting for the top home page position. I once wrote a post because I thought Medium is a great platform to reach a lot of readers.

Good and short description, but it's only a little part in digital marketing. This is just retargeting, an old hat. You can do even more sophisticated things, like predicting what's the best next step in the sales funnel. In gener

I like that idea. I wonder if there is a web server or even a module for the popular ones (nginx, apache) that renders markdown files and server HTML on the fly.
