Any managed language - java and go included, pays for trips to external, non-intrinsics calls. The standard way to deal is large portions/buffers to amortize the costs. This has been the case since the late '90s

Talking about technically well written: When showing microbenchmarks - show the exact hardware used, make sure the CPU does run at fixed frequency (no boost, most laptops can't control the freq. esp Macs)

when it comes down to doing the metal, benchmarks becomes an important thing -- and you rarely stop until the inner most routines are in Assembly.

Image decoding can be ported to rust, however most video/image decoding software is rarely ported (performance reasons and what not) - and used as a library instead. Java would have similar issues as well. It'd be using a compiled

That sound so naive, or fanboy - it ain't funny. GPS can be spoofed, and the entire hardware that decodes it replaced. Trying to hide a hardware device that's sold in billions is not going to happen.

At some point people understand the 'approach', and it is extra condescending. Being straight/blunt is not about hurting someone's feeling.

I'd expect to have some mobile data connection at most parts of the US (through Europe that would not be an issue the slightest). The data transfer needed is really low. There is a need only for a single point with inet connectivity. T

Cash payments over (few) thousands are not permitted in the most/many EU member state already. NL are just catching the train. Greece has it as low as 500 Euro.

That would work for some desktop and very few laptops only... and only if the task cannot be ported to GPU. Other than that Javascript code would be ported to C. This very case is far worse as it uses SHA-256, all that bitcoin asics love.
