NAT != firewalling. People conflating the two leads to policies like needing NAT for ipv6.

There's what I think is a similar concept in Java called security contexts. I've never encountered it actually being used, and it just tends to get in the way, like you said. These strike me as similar to SELinux in that regard.

You're right: they're perfectly fine. This whole thing is FUD from someone... just not sure who yet. My understanding is this band has been used for Europe for a few years already.

I think people are getting too hung up on the term disability. A big reason why it's used in the US is a legal one: to simplify, if it's a disability, employers must make reasonable accommodations for it.

Otoh, the us was able to maintain the status quo with the taliban being relegated to the mountains with 3500 troops against ~75000 taliban. The DOD has over 1 million troops at their disposal. If you seriously think Afganistan was more abou

More practically speaking, the issue is for sat internet, you need to both receive (relatively easy to hide, at least from broad based surveillance), but also transmit (much much easier to pick up). So I doubt starlink will be a panacea.

Do wealthier suburbs tend to support the Liberals more? The US is pretty backwards where the higher income you are, the more likely you are to support the democrats (obviously a huge generalization). The question really seems to be is which

It's not particularly controversial. Here's the NY version, for example. https://corcraft.ny.gov/ There's an explicit carve out in the 13th amendment's slavery prohibition for people convicted of crimes

I have a server that I'm already running a bunch of vms on running opnsense, with an Intel 82599 passed through. I'd use SR-IOV but the freebsd driver is buggy when using vlans. There are some "cheap" ($250-400) switches

I have literally no idea how the test works; I'm a software engineer. They're supposed to be similar to pregnancy tests right? But those detect hormones afaik, not viruses (or antibodies).

Not just that (since there's a lot of situations you may not be able to actually fix bugs in the moment, just work around them), but it also aligns incentives and enforces lessons learned. If you know you're gonna be on the other

Yeah, that's totally reasonable (even a requirement for anything remotely important these days!). I'd consider that setup devs owning their deployments.

At a certain point you have to ask how can someone not think about what they're doing at all. If someone asks for a log, what would go through your brain that says, should I give it to the person asking in the most inconvenient format

It's more nuanced than that. America has the issue where there's 2 big tent parties, but there's a million little fiefdoms that are easily captured by radicals. Things like local school boards, where people just don't ha

Oh I'm not saying it's possible, but I do think it requires a culture of remote first. I believe Hashicorp was remote from the beginning. That's a lot different than trying to pivot an existing large company to fully remote.
