Why require only proprietary format? It's a pity they wouldn't allow ODF.

Meanwhile in both India[1] and China[2] (two biggest countries by Internet users count) IPv6 is mandated by the national policy. Everyone else should do that, otherwise the transition would never be finished. ISPs and other network business

Curiously, most of these apps are web-based anyway, just wrapped inside an app.

It's sad that Tectonic conversion to Rust[1] was never finished. For now it's just a wrapper around C and C++ code. By far, it was the most promising thing in this distribution. [1] https://github.com/tectonic-type

Looking at Beyond Meat you are probably right - their shares are in tatters, they are bleeding money without any prospects to break even. Maybe only second generation of meatless companies will make it.

It's a problem for any fast moving software, not only Rust. Debian (and Ubuntu which is based on it) is notoriously slow on updating many packages.

It gets more complicated once you start using it for services outside the country, international transfers, or you decide to work overseas, or just retire overseas.

I recently thought it would be awesome to have DragonFly BSD working on Raspberry Pi (or any other modern ARMv8 machine) but it's not implemented yet - there is a small code bounty[1] but I would be happy to extend it for a couple $k.

It's the only modern OS that can still be also installed on VAX. You can try it yourself with OpenSIMH[1][2][3]. I struggled to successfully setup network though - for some reason it wasn't working as expected. [1] https:/&#

Maybe at least increasing energy costs will force people and companies to ditch Electron-based "programs" (or Java/NodeJS in case of servers). Native is much more energy efficient by definition.

It's sad that leaner and better designed FB2 format (or helped to improve it) didn't gain support from vendors. ePub format is just a bunch of HTML without meaningful semantics.

It's dangerous to modify something we don't know in details - risk breaking it is too high. The only sane action transhumanism could do is to throw money and working hands on the biomedical research, also biomedical engineering. E
