This is great, but I doubt this will ever actually be enforced. At least not without Switzerland dramatically increasing its investment in FOSS.

Crowdstrike merely shows how much people depend on big tech and they don't even realize how much they rely on it. I think you have too much faith in the average person. They scarcely understand how nearly everything in their life has b

Do read through the linked article. Not sure how you could make cloud compute more private if you tried; apart from homomorphic encryption.

I'm not particularly concerned about the user limit. The companies for which those limits will matter are so large that they should consider contributing back to humanity by developing their own SOTA foundation models.

The primary modality through which most people experience media today is their phones, so vertical video is just fine.

CrowdStrike's reasoning is that an instantaneous global rollout helps them protect against rapidly spreading malware. However, I doubt they need an instantaneous rollout for every deployment.

I find it absolutely insane they wouldn't be doing this. At the level their software operates, it's sheer negligence to not sanitize inputs.

Huge VR fan here. I tried the demo in the Apple Store. It was cool and all, but nothing game changing. From a company like Apple - somewhat disappointing even. The technology just isn't there yet for a compelling product. Apple should

They do not have any meaningful companies that actually have to worry about the end-user viability of tech. Spotify, Indeed, and Booking are maybe the only real examples of consumer web apps from the EU, there are literally hundreds larger

This just seems like deflection. The EU does not have an understanding for modern consumer tech products, period. That they have old giants still producing sub components has no bearing on this discussion, it's not like their industr

The EU would rapidly collapse if US big tech pulled out. It actively prevents the development of a flourishing tech industry.

Maybe we should just fine any company 100% of revenue if they breach a law, since that's just as arbitrary of a number and makes our region more money.

The DMA was badly drafted, and it's quite protectionist. The EU does not write good tech legislation overall, because it does not understand tech industry at a cultural level, having never built out its own.

Okay, you leave, and now your employees are dead (probably tortured to death on LiveLeak.) Or you could pay the ransom, report it to the DOJ, and then leave, like Chiquita did.

Rotting is a lot easier to spot than structural failures and cracks slowly building inside concrete walls. Wood beams can be repaired more easily and individually than concrete if they do rot. Finally, modern woods are less prone to rotting
