How many people really would abuse the return policy like that? I can't imagine it's that many.

$1.3M. Paying $600k in federal+state. Then sales tax is another ~10% on what's left. That brings me to earning 48c on every dollar, so not a 60% tax but a 52% tax which is still damn egregious given that I had better roads and most p

Congressional budgetary oversight has been a complete and utter failure for anything budget related for the past few decades. It is truly a broken and non-functional system that cannot be repaired. I and most other Americans have totally, c

What are you talking about? Insane YoY rev growth. Still on a hockey stick growth curve. Lower PE than Apple. Best FCF in the biz. Well positioned to take over VR if it becomes a thing. WhatsApp is ripe for monetization. Talk to any staff+

I don't really care about those fancy music theory terms. All that really matters is whether users like what the generator generates

In the future we may have music gen models that dynamically generate a soundtrack to our life, based off of ongoing events, emotions, etc. as well as our preferences. If this happens, main character syndrome may get a bit worse :)

I pay about 50% in taxes. These agencies are a net positive at an unjustifiably high cost. Most tax dollars are wasted/grifted. Have you ever worked at a government contractor? Those that have will laugh at your statements here. $80 sc

I 100% agree. Anyone can use the Sagan quote to justify why they lost. The quote is just used as a fancy way of calling people with different views stupid. "Society is failing because people are dumber, and thats why they voted for X,

The ratio is what matters. Easily 95%+ of r/all is far-left content, typically with "rage-bait" headlines that fail to expose the nuance of the situation. This can't be healthy, for two reasons: (1) The health of the com

Nah, what we are seeing is that they just leave the site, and the site becomes more radicalized overall. Banning the_donald was the beginning of the end for Reddit, at least as far as balanced discourse went. At that time, the r/all wa

I'd ballpark USAID at maybe half a percent? It's an easy win. A few more of these and Elon will have made a meaningful dent in the wastage of my tax dollars. I'd consider even a 3% reduction in spend a massive success. The pe

I am thrilled that Elon is doing this. Our government doesn't get anything done. Taxes are a fucking scam with how much gets wasted. Finally someone with a "just ship it" mindset has entered the govt and is getting shit done

I would argue it is you that has not seen the balance sheets, absurdly high line items, or worked for a government contractor - else you would 100% agree with his stance on taxation. A huge chunk of government spending is a horrendous waste

The only QALYs that should matter to the US Gov't are American QALYs. I don't need to be funding $50M worth of condoms to be sent to Gaza. That's a "them" problem, and while there might be second order effects to a

It isn't arrogant or elitist to suggest that no one person should be rolling their own crypto, even if they have taken a grad level cryptography class. For instance, you don't expect an aviation engineer to build a brand new plane

Yes, most of us have likely taken a grad level cryptography course. Still, that's not enough to securely roll your own crypto. You want many years of experience and a community of experts working with you. If you don't have that -

If you're having to constantly remind your security engineers about "degrees of security," they may be trying to tell you that your threat model is unsustainably/nonsensically/dangerously lax.

No, you can not competently roll your own crypto because you took an algorithms class in college. Even the assumption you could is absurd.
