I hate it when people answer questions like that. Surely its obvious to Mark that the issue was some entity, be it Facebook or a local government, is making the decision of which services were to be available instead of letting the user dec

Not sure if you're being facetious but Iceland, Costa Rica and Mauritius all fail that test and are commonly accepted as nations.

That was pretty weak arguments against the case of the Chagossians people. I had to try really hard not to downvote because I disagree with your position. It doesn't matter if western countries mistreat their people sometimes, that doe

Lots of congratulating on this thread and a hell of a lot of points for a software release. I've been on HN consistently for a long while and I didn't realize there was so much love and hype for RethinkDB here. Have I missed somet

I believe the biggest problem with introductory programming courses is that students are taught two things at once; programming logic and syntax. To a newbie, rules like ending statements in a semi-colon, wrapping strings in quotes and reme

I think that's terrible advice for learning Linux since most people learning Linux are hoping to learn to use the shell and the programs accessible only via command line. I tried learning Linux since the mid-2000s and failed every time

Bugger. I was really excited for Let's Encrypt specifically for the possibility of a free wildcard cert. I was thinking of building an app which would be under two domains like heroku.com/herokuapps.com and github.com/github.

Thank you so much for the link. Running bcdedit on Windows did the trick. Who knew it was possible to let Windows fix the issue it caused. I can now finally press my power button and walk away knowing it'll boot into Ubuntu in peace.

I'm not sure Google's invite only strategy is a particularly good idea. I was excited about both GMail and Google+ when they were both launched but by the time I found access to both of them I didn't care anymore. For GMail,
