All the options other people are suggesting are good, but if you host on Google Cloud Compute's us-west1 region you'll get very low latency as that's the region from which they send the HTTP requests.

From what I found in their documentation, the limitation is latency. Your server can use whatever compute cycles it wants to formulate a decision for a single turn, but if it doesn't respond with sub 250ms latency then the snake just c

You may be interested in following Tom Stanton on YouTube. He built a radio controlled SpaceX model a few months ago.[1] It was barely controllable, and wasn't designed with actual propulsion engines, but still very cool. As others hav

If manipulating the DOM directly is so much faster than using a virtual DOM, then why do libraries like React or Ember use a virtual DOM in the first place? I honestly though it was for speed.

Can this also be used as a replacement for sync services such as Dropbox or SpiderOak ONE? In other words, can I sync accessible folders between computers in near-realtime, or is it only archival/backup storage?

Interesting, I've never heard it referred to as "dual-quadcopter". It's a common configuration in the model aircraft hobby where it's referred to as "X8" octocopter. I supposed "X8" doesn't

What you describe sounds very similar to my take on the Rubber Ducky method, except with writing things down instead of talking out loud. I think what works is the act of putting your thoughts out into a form you can then turn out and think

There are definitely topics I can think of that I have always wished were in the books I learned from. I'll let the ideas churn for a bit before I apply. Thanks so much for the quick response :)

This sounds like something I'd love to get into, but I don't have any book writing experience. Do you have any tips/pointers for me? Can you recommend any online courses that might help me learn more about technical book writ

Not precisely. They took advantage of sub-pixels but still needed more (sub-)pixel width per letter.

It might even be possible to render at 1/3rd pixels wide, if you take advantage of RGB sub-pixels on an LCD. Sounds like a fun thing to try.

With Google Voice + Hangouts you can also answer phone calls from a desktop computer/laptop very easily. I'll miss that.

I wonder if this can segregate vocals from instrumentals in a mix? That would be great for mashups.

Hey I just wanted to say thanks for this article. I'm interested in CRDTs but the papers are a little over my head, so it's nice to be able to step through your examples in detail.

Rustler in particular boasts safety and an inability to crash the Erlang VM. Whether that holds true in practice, I don't know, but it's the first thing they mention in their README.

In normal mode, after using f or F to jump to a character, ; repeats the motion and jumps to the next match. I find myself using this often enough that if I swapped mappings for : and ; I would be in a world of confusion.
