Would an accelerator such as the Intel Neural Compute Stick 2 work with this? It can be plugged into a Pi, however I'm not clear on how VRAM works on the compute stick or if it's shared with the host?

Waveshare and Pimoroni have some that work well with Raspberry Pi, if they're in your budget. I built a Waveshare epaper display + Pi Zero into a photo frame for a totally different project. Your idea tempts me.

Why not? I learned programming with QBasic, which included its own little IDE and docs in the form of a help menu system. Years and years later, for the nostalgia of it all I stood up a DOS emulator with QBasic on modern hardware and it was

When I was learning Blender as a teenager I discovered this and built a website that let you enter text and it generated a 3D model of the text. I was young and naïve and didn't realize how dumb of an architecture it was to simply shel

I hope you take this constructively but none of the design decisions you've described sound like they have any chance of working toward your stated goal of fostering high quality content and discussion: 1. Tags are not the equivalent o

What if they evolved to use radiation as a sensory input/output as a form of communication, as humans have with sound? That civilization might then be more cautious to radiation as "noise", and perhaps use sound as we do radi

The "prepared" part seems like good advice because many decisions can be made in advance, only contingent on future information. You might not be able to decide far in advance what exactly to do, but you might be able to decide

Is the set of all odd numbers smaller than the set of all even and odd numbers together? If not, then if you were to merge the set of all even numbers to the set of all odd numbers, did you really merge anything since the set didn't gr

Some users are doing that for those reasons, sure. But a decentralized app doesn't need to measure it's relevance or success by user base unless it's part of the design goal. Twitter is a business, so of course its success is

I see your point and identify with the frustration, but at the end of the day that's kind of the entire point of Mastodon and the main distinction that makes it stand out from Twitter. It's decentralized. There is no one server, a

I had the same confusion and re-read the article. Best I can understand, what they're trying to say is that it could be used without a build step in the sense that you could just manipulate the database's AST-like structure dire

This (training a model with no NSFW content) would be preferable to me. No false positives to worry about. People who do want to generate NSFW stuff can fine-tune or train their own model, nobody owes that functionality to them in freely av

Rack 3 has better support for web servers like Falcon[0] that are designed to take advantage of async or blocking vs non-blocking IO throughout the stack. Maybe the same for Puma? [0]: https://github.com/socketry/falcon

You write a compiler and tests to check the Python implementation. If you were to write it in TLA+ you could use a built in solver and specify invariants to check, which are just formulas, without requiring all the boilerplate that a progra

TLA+ is for writing specifications of models, and programming languages are for implementing the models. Sometimes there is very little difference, and sometimes there is more. It's subtle in simpler examples like yours but becomes a l
