To keep an ssh session forever, you could also add the following line to ssh_config. ServerAliveInterval 10 The client sends a keepalive packet every 10 seconds.

I hope this also means that we might see programmable datapath processors in switches/routers in the near future! That would be way awesome.

This file contains an example of how you could do similar things (printing \lambda for lambda functions) in emacs using font-lock. http://dishevelled.net/elisp/lambda-mode.el (string 54091) Gives some Chinese character; the unicode

I like the trick of using the last few bits of aligned pointers to store something useful. It's tricky and has to be done correctly. A class wrapper around the pointer would be better. For e.g., a constraint in an AVL tree requires that t

I think there's a difference: Enlive is meant to manipulate the DOM using familiar CSS/jQuery like selectors. The article however, is a way to _write_ the HTML in the first place. I've myself been using a declarative style HTML output engi

Internet routing is supposed to be a distributed system alright, but most of the internet services (except China's) are not hosted in China. Wouldn't it be easy to add a policy to BGP that effectively blacklists (or gives a low priority) t

Mathematica programming language is somewhat symbolic, like Lisp; so you could just "rewrite" your expressions to use CUDAfft[] or whatever very easily. Example: Hold[Times[1,2]] /. (Times -> Plus)

It's just that you write it once and it can run anywhere without "installing" many dependencies other than a browser. No fugly GUIs, no inconsistencies, etc. By web-based I didn't mean it to be on the Internet.

What would be interesting is if someone made a web-based GUI wrapper around such apps. I am sure it would be possible, considering that curses-based wrappers have been around: http://zemljanka.sourceforge.net/cursed/ .

In IM clients like Pidgin, you can enable TLS for connecting to a Jabber chat server (provided the server supports it). Chat should be encrypted; I wonder why it wasn't the case with Kik.

I am not sure if what you claim is meaningful. A single bit of data loss is a data loss, no matter what the file size is. If you meant you could fix the 1-bit error easily in the 1KB case, as you have just 8K bits to flip through, then it
