I'm not saying a partner earns $5M, but that he is responsible for bringing that into the firm. I just don't understand how decision makers at a big firm are going to say yes to tech solutions when those solutions will kill the go

IANAL, obviously! One question I have about legal AI startups/products, is how do they maintain or improve upon billing practices of law firms? Having worked with a bunch of lawyers, I know that I'm often paying $500/hr to th

How do you run it? vllm? llama.cpp? Can you share some parameters you enable tool calling and agentic usage? Or, higher level, some philosophies on what approaches you are using for tuning to get better tool calling and/or agentic usag

It really feels like the coverage of these stories are a smokescreen and hide the true villains. "Live Nation and Ticketmaster are monopolies!" (Most musicians: I know I can't sell music online anyways, and need a villain col

Thanks so much. Your blog is great, btw! I expect more great things from you! I especially enjoyed your repo on your custom keyboard. My kids are crazy about keyboards. If you taught I class I would definitely sign them up!

I feel like this is tangential to this conversation. Does anyone know of a good tool for "load balancing" usage across local GPUs? Why: I have two RTX3090s (24GB). I've been using nvidia-smi to check usage of my RTX3090. Most

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get started on projects like this, specifically alongside kids (very smart 9-13 in range)? I got them a 3d printer to move them into more "physical" computing, with mixed results. Any pla

Funny, I built something similar and I think I told swyx about it as well! https://plzat.me/ Swyx is certainly a taste maker! Mine is just to track conversations. You can follow a thread and get notified when it is updated.

I'm very excited about this. GPS was the final piece of the puzzle. I love(d) my bangle.js. Such a true hacker device. Really fun to use WebUSB and push JavaScript files as apps. But the GPS on that device was a mess, honestly. I know

Really good points, thanks so much. This feels like the new frontier for "journalism": can we easily verify it? That feels like a step in the right direction, regardless of how it happens. People like Steve Bannon know this, and h

I'm going to admit I'm emotionally invested in this blog. I really enjoyed this write up. I'm troubled by your statement because I can't tell if you are saying it is incorrect and AI made it and therefore BAD. Or if you

I really like this addendum: "Please note, as a matter of house style, War on the Rocks will not use a different name for the U.S. Department of Defense until and unless the name is changed by statute by the U.S. Congress."

When I hear the name Lincoln now, I can't help but think of the fake Letterboxd review of Melania: "the worst experience I've had at a theatre." By Abraham Lincoln.

After reading some of the docs it does look fun. Python, so leverage your Python skills and existing libraries. A nice GUI so you can build, view, tweak, review, iterate. Will be a nice new toy...

I've been using Gemini to generate openscad programs for use with my 3d printer. Is cadquery a better option I wonder? Why do you say it is better than openscad?
