Especially when, like this tool, the guy starts calling home 5 min after start (attempt caught by LuLu without taking a single screenshot). Supposedly is only performance and usage metrics,... but who knows.

I'm not sure that there is no empirical support: see [0] [0] A. Roe, S. Pallas, Y. Kwon, and M. Sur, “Visual projections routed to the auditory pathway in ferrets: receptive fields of visual neurons in primary auditory cortex,” J. Neur

One might wonder how Predictive Processing/Coding works when the "cortex" is empty (i.e., at birth). I don't know if this is just armchair neuroscience wrapped in a bunch of mathematical flourishes.

No. Those figures are pretty "standard". Neither AMD or Intel have "invented" an OOO processor. Those figures mean nothing. Are the standard "big" boxes in any modern processor. The key details are inside. E.g.

The second elephant is don't split training from inference. There is no such thing as inference in biological systems. All these efforts are futile as long as we do not get rid of the GD.

The right analogy is trying to understand why your favorite OS works, by trying to understand why certain window appears when you click in certain region of the screen. You need to understand up to certain level the underlying mechanisms (e

Then, what is the value of making the software secure if the hardware isn't? The hardware issue is terrifying. And the worst part, it seems not possible to fix it without trowing away decades of performance enhancements. This epic scre

Right and... > Side-channel attacks [20],[21], [22], [23], [24], [25] are beyond the scope of the paper If all current hardware (i.e. OOO and caches) is vulnerable to speculative side-channel attacks, how they dare to say that is secure?

Why not tools like https://github.com/ispc ? This seems really close to the metal, either to have a non-negligible maintenance cost or not being able to fully exploit the hardware at use.

It's so "sad" that our auditory pathway is constantly trying to modulate the input from the cortex (especially with information from the cortex). I wonder why those audiophiles are able to distinguish two headphones with an o

"Chemical" based intelligence/life is only the bootstrap to "electron" based intelligence/life. Most likely we might be unable to understand that until ourselves cross that line. They will wait for it.

Hopefully, Konrad Zuse will regain his seminal role in current computers (i.e. Stored-program computer). Von Neumann and Turing don't deserve it.
