One of my gripes with web development is that it looks like its primary driven by fads. A LOT of companies change the whole stack just to copy the latest gimmick they’ve seen somewhere else. Devs need to be constantly relearning how to do b

I’m also willing to bet you live way up the stack. Try debugging something in the embedded world, and you’ll see why a lot of bare metal programmers use printfs. Turns out timing is critical most of the time, so using a debugger hides a LOT

I'm not talking about NRE costs, I'm talking about very real manufacturing costs that you are ignoring. Modern battery packs are one of these things that if you haven't designed one you tend to think they're simple, but

Would you want it enough to pay 20% to 30% more and have the phone be ~5mm thicker? Because the obvious issue is that most people won’t.

Except it isn’t, not with modern lithium based batteries. Now most devices use direct voltage, coloumb counting and battery impedance to keep track, and that’s with known batteries.

I know, but clock rate tends to be a good proxy, especially im cases like this. For a bus like I2C there’s basically two possibilities: 1. You are using a part with a clock rate that extends clock rate over the standard, which means you ha
