There should be a layer of user control where the user can make the OS lie to the app. The app has no need to know when a screenshot or recording is happening, what the real location is, what file system contents are, etc.

In Spain I drove past fields of sunflowers that were all wilted. Formerly grass fields are totally yellow and crunch underfoot.

Indeed that was a major disruption. If anything good came out of the shakeup, one of the thing has to be that supply chains are even more rapidly adaptable (even if they still aren't natively resilient).

Thinking AI is particularly bad (or even that large) compared to other uses of water, electricity, and land is the real AI psychosis.

Google is not currently in the lead for maximum model capability, but it is still very competitive (or even best) in the multidimensional capability, cost, and speed frontier.

We need a Netflix Chaos Monkey tool for modern life. Each week one modern convenience stops working for a day: indoor plumbing, air conditioning, electricity, wifi, automobile, air travel etc. after one day without, you will again appreciat

Same. Every time I see an ad I feel like I've been dosed with a small amount of poison.

Unfortunately, adblocking may need to move up one level to visual perception of renderee html or client-side AI heuristics about what is probably an ad. Removal may not be possible, but a masking overlay should still be.

Indeed. Local compute and RAM are a some of the most wasted resource, sitting idle 95 percent of their life. Datacenters flip that ratio.

Fans are a good addition if they only activate during peak load, but my experience with Dell is that the hardware and firmware design is so poor that the fans always operate at near full speed.

Apple is introducing this now because hardware capability ceilings are being hit and component prices are preventing higher specced components from being used. I buy a new (non apple) phone most years, but I'll probably skip the next 2
