Such a great project! I was a squid guy, then nginx and now since nginx stopped getting new features due to the commercial edition I am switching. Thank you developers for this amazing work!

Thanks to the kind folks putting in the effort and bringing this to linux, every release excites me! I've been a long long time fan of ZFS on BSD and Solaris (yes I'm old).

I can't recall using the built-in version in ages, it is pretty much always homebrew before you even start. So I think this is a great move.

What motivated cloudflare to publish these blog posts? I'm not saying I don't like them I am just curious the logic to sharing this type of info and research?

I use it for my Pi based solar production and house monitoring and like it. It was the first time i've ever used it. I found it fit perfect for this project. I was surprised when I tried to use it for literally anything other than raw

This article doesn't seem to account for the idea that removed and the announced have a different latency compared to a new announcement. For example if we withdraw a prefix and then announce it 10 minutes later propagation is WAY fast

Thanks, it compiling this was a bit of a pain but I got it and do see some performance increase but wow slow. Still though, I know this is outside the scope of the article but I don't see AV1 catching on anytime soon and I half laugh t

Yah rav1e is a bit faster, only a few weeks ago I tried to transcode large test movie was around 8 gbps of h264. I was using a big 20 core e5 and was doing almost 1/2 a frame per second. I seem to recall working out the estimated time

Incorrect, jsmpeg decodes mpeg1 and mpeg2 (which are basically the same) Decoding MPEG4 in Javascript can be done, check out broadway but it uses massive massive CPU and basically sucks.

Thier claims about encoding working in ffmpeg are also untrue..

Well let's get one thing straight, VP9 does not achieve 50% more compression compared to H.264... Second the demo videos were cherry picked to support their argument - using full motion panning...

Not sure what the authors application is, but we run a dozen servers behind http/2 load balanced and dozens of sites and haven't seen anything similar to what he is describing.

Considering Boeing already participates or works in tandem with the FAA to write the rules, it is pretty sick they are trying to work around the rules. This is all about profit and they are doubling down, likely due to contract obligations

AWS has been maintaining there own custom version for more than 2 years based on the open source code, and mostly use KVM now from what I understand.

Any reason this article completely skipped over the userspace tools like DPDK and Netmap (there are many others). Considering cloudflare uses a customer version of nginx using the dpdk stack?
