I had some involvement with sears holding back in 2006-2008, and I remember thinking why were they selling all these clothes? Who the F buys clothes at sears?? It’s going to die of irrelevance. Cut it down to the Kenmore / craftsman br

Came to say this. No one can predict with certainty which startups will fail and which won’t. If someone did there would be just one VC firm that grossly outperformed everyone else. The truth is you get the smartest people out there, make t

I find the part about the MBB people not seeing any point in their work surprising. I used to work in strategy consulting. Their perception of “Wasteful” is probably from the gobs of money these firms charge for what seems like a relatively

I’d agree with you, but you are comparing apples and oranges. The selection you quoted focuses on absolute language eg always, never. But the comparison you’re making is on pronoun choice eg I, you, they. You do mention absolutist words but

If accumulating money is important to you there’s basically two ways to match this manager’s expectation: 1) work at Facebook/google/Microsoft/Amazon/etc for X years, keep your spending low, and invest the rest wisely 2)

Sounds like they don’t give a shit and only reacted when TC was going to write a story about it. Surprising given that user trust is at the core of their business, and without it they have nothing.

I love how this is breaking the mold, paying 3% on checking. But when you look at it, it's actually not particularly useful. You want to put money in, and take money out right? In this account, you basically can only withdraw money in

Have you actually had a startup tell you how many options are out there? I've joined a few different startups all series B or later, and have asked at least 2 of them how many total shares there were. Neither would tell me.

Yea i agree with others here. In my experience people dont do well with vague questions esp with strangers. If you were asked that you may feel intruded upon or surprised / not sure how to answer the question. Same reason this question

I recently did a job search in SF and very few companies were hiring or open to remote. I agree with the author that it's very ironic that tech gives us the tools to work remote but yet most tech firms insist on working face to face. C
