Git may have an arcane interface, but if you learn it, you can be sure what exactly will happen when you run a Git command. Unlike with LLMs.

If you have to put in this much effort, why not just write it yourself?

It’s only “easy to try” if you’re okay with using proprietary software and having to rely on an evil megacorporation that engages in cyber-warfare.

The question is why we don’t have database management systems that integrate tightly with the progmming language. Instead we have to communicate between two different paradigms using a textual language, which is itself inefficient.

Common facts like “what is the capital of Hungary” are repeated so many times in the training data that the LLM knows them without a search.

An important part of a font is kerning. I’m guessing that LLMs would be really bad at kerning because they don’t have visual intuition.

It seems that the person you’re replying to is also deterministic. No matter how many times you explain what “deterministic” means, they fail to understand it.

I think their point is that an AI user makes fewer searches on average because AI helps ttem find what they’re looking for faster.

According to the Kagi team, customers who don’t use AI cost them more, so you’re not subsidizing anything.

It uses an LLM to do the translation, so there is no point in restricting it to a specific set of languages.

You can curate the resutls yourself by telling it to uprank or downrank specific sites. Also, they have an initiative called SlopStop for detecting AI-generated websites.

Jupyter notebooks are a form of scripting in JSON. Anyway, all this is the fault of specific tools, not of YAML. This is like saying that laundry pods are bad because people eat them.
