To mod: please do not remove the "pipebackend" from the title since it is the reason I'm sharing this... Perhaps I should have written it as [PipeBackend].

Thought of submitting this when another PowerDNS submit came up. The pipe backend is a very interesting one since it allows you to hack up a custom DNS resolution mechanism very easily. For instance I built a simple backend that synthesizes

Well, it's always safer to use widely used solutions in production. That way you encounter fewer bugs, and it's much easier to find a workaround in case you do encounter one.

Answering the second question: you won't want to use it in production, but if you have ever been intrigued by one of those Unix philosophy preaches, you should definitely take a look at it. It takes the tool philosophy (build simple to

"fun" is even funnier than "func"! ML etymology sounds pretty plausible (I didn't know ML uses fn) since I can see there is a strong influence of ML on Rust.

fn is my favorite keyword for function definition. "function" is too long. "def" doesn't say anything about functions (unless you read it as DEfine Function). "func" sounds too funny. "defun" alw

It has always made me wonder why there is no direct way for checking for overflow in most languages, since most CPUs do have an overflow flag. Dedicating an operator or keyword is probably too much, but at least it can be a routine in std

On a related note, parsing Chinese could be much harder since the first step, identifying word boundaries [1], is already hard enough... 1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Text_segmentation
