This is really cool. I never got to play with a proper NeXT machine, but WindowMaker was my window manager of choice for several years in the late 90s/early 2000s. I always wished that GNUStep could have gotten more traction on the d

As someone who has been using Linux full time on servers/desktops/laptops/embedded devices and any other computing device I've had since 1998: Systemd is such an awesome improvement over everything that came before it.

This is very cool and I use it from time to time, but it's not actually keeping anything synced afaik (it's equivalent to the web ui, but very nicely integrated in gnome).

I remember getting the e-mail about their backups not having been working for months. I was shocked at how negligent that was. I run my own backups now. (Also their backup offering is so much more cumbersome to use than borg backup that i

It's fantastic at scale for web applications (far better than the REST apis it has replaced since over-fetching isn't a concern). I don't work on content sites or anything where edge caching applies though, so YMMV. (All our

GraphQL is amazing. Building an API and then playing around with it in GraphiQl is really a exciting experience. I've played with Relay (relay-modern looks great, but when I needed to pick a graphql client it hadn't been released

I've been using Things gateway for probably a year or so now (I'm just using z-wave devices, but Things supports lots of other types as well). The main thing I see missing that most home automators will want is support for locks

Excited to hear about an official declarative config. When we were looking at deploying Kong, this was our biggest pain point (looked at lots of 3rd party solutions but none were ideal).

Point 1 wasn't a problem for adopting GraphQL for us because our end-points are very dynamic so we set no-cache headers on everything anyway. That said, clients like Apollo will let you issue GET requests instead of POSTs for queries

I run a fleet of thousands of business devices running ssh. I used to have ssh configured to just ignore HostKey warnings but that always made me a little uneasy. Setting up an ssh CA and signing host keys was just a one-night project and

GraphQL is awesome. As a consumer of a graphql api, it's a no-brainer, it's so much easier/faster/flexible than REST (obv. a well designed rest server/client can be fast and flexible and get caching right, but th

If you're not using XMonad, 'passmenu' is a really handy way to get your passwords. I bind it to ctrl-alt-p and rarely run pass manually now.

I don't think the git integration can be broken. You can go into the ~/.password-store directory yourself and see what is going on next time you have issues (it's just a regular git repo).
