I feel an often overlooked prevention for these semi-random attacks is a change in the SSH default port. I've posted this idea elsewhere and people seem convinced that this is pointless because an attacker can just port-scan your machi

Might be workable if you have the option to change the vibration pattern to something clearly distinct from a notification.

On top of it, the last I read, getting IP blocks from a RIR (even a decently supplied one like ARIN) is rather difficult as the IPv4 space continually dwindles. Also read that ARIN won't give you IPv6 space unless you first have assign

I've done a fair amount of research here. There are few links that just "have everything" as not a ton of people are doing this from the ground up. The biggest bottleneck is infrastructure, which to some extent boils down to

In searching old articles, I can't confirm the "rent-only" stigma in my mind. However, it does appear that you would be forced to pay the $30/mo fee to do anything.

With Steam at least you only pay once (and FYI some Steam games don't have any DRM but they are a minority). I'd have to dig but the impression that is in my memory is that you would get a game for a time period for a price and th

I remember going to E3 some ten years ago with friends and we couldn't stop laughing at the Phantom. IIRC, they were either going to charge per minute played or the games were going to be rent-only or something of that nature. It just

I would think overhead would be the 7.3% cited on Charity Navigator and the 22% fund raising would be separate. Maybe that 22% will really pay off in the future. If Bill likes them though they can't be doing too bad.

Looks like they've had a drastic drop in rating from Charity Navigator, from 4/4 stars to 2. Apparently due to them spending 22% of their income on fund raising [1]. This is the first I've heard of them and I may still give j

Yes, completely agree, we need more of this as it helps people better see the impact their donations have in areas donors will likely never visit. I like how Charity:Water is also doing this by giving you photos and GPS coordinates to the p

Yes this is a good step in the right direction I feel. Personally though some updates would have been nice, I think there was at least 4 months between funding and hearing that surgery was complete for the patient I helped with. An earlier

I'm not a C expert either but a lot of the system modules in Node appear to be simple JavaScript wrappers over their C counter-parts. I'm not sure if this is necessarily a problem but rather the developers just didn't aim for

Interesting. I've recently set aside a ThreeJS project. I'm not a math wiz but even with Three, you still need some idea about matricies, vectors and even quaternions. The way you're "supposed" to do collision detec

I've seen the math done on the unused IPv4 space by some institutions. In the end, even if an organization gave up their entire /8, you get something like 1 to 2 months of extra time at best.
