While the actual curiosity-following-adventure is amazing, i think one other aspect to all of this that deserves a lot of praise is his writing. He managed to take us on his adventure along with him. Not every blogger pulls that off success

This is actually pretty cool. One of the major things that actually help learning JS is how easy it is to test out a piece of code before writing it to your main code base. Simply pop open a JS console on any browser and test that line out

wouldn't the slowness of bcrpyt be a hindrance enough? Of course rate limiting is a much greater barrier, but I thought the whole point of using bcrypt is that its naturally slow and prevents checking several passwords in a short time

So what is the benefit of this over the Web version? Same UI, both need the internet, both have desktop notifications, both need your cellphone to be connected to the internet. Not to mention, no linux version

This is what I love about fb messenger over whatsapp. You can use it on your pc even without your cellphone. This dependency on the mobile makes no sense at all. It kills half the usecase.
