Remember last time we had a nationwide Adderall shortage it was deliberately caused by Shire to force people onto Vyvanse. Prior to Vyvanse Shire has signed a generic supplier agreement with TEVA so generic adderall was just the brand drug

I don't know the number but the limit is the speed of light and expansion of the universe. In the modern phase of the universe a black hole would only be able to eat its own galactic cluster (or maybe supercluster). Hubble expansion me

We'll have to agree to disagree. Obviously TDM was known but implementing it for ethernet at a reasonable cost was just not an option at the time (in my opinion).

The market fluctuates. If those assets are held to maturity most will payoff without losses... even some of the subprime mortgage dreck from 2007 ended up recovering, SVB's assets are far less impaired.

None of those things could be implemented in the 1970 or 1980s at reasonable cost so they're not actually solutions at all. Hell even making Ethernet fully switched didn't really happen until the 1990s thanks to Moore's law m

Ethernet is also an example of a tech that has an easy scaling path: hubs with switched uplink ports made it really easy to divide collision domains. In the early days before everything was switched you could instantly reduce collision loss

No, that is not known at this time. It will take a few years to fully wind down the assets so as of right now no one knows if recovery will be <100%, 100% of deposits, or >100% of deposits (in which case general creditors may get some

Not really... the system should protect depositors. Frankly I think there shouldnt be a deposit insurance limit or it should be much higher. Depositing cash in a bank should be safe for everyone. SVB's executives and shareholders were

Yeah but look at the FDIC historical data on "dividends" (FDIC's term for uninsured depositor paybacks). Lots of cases have >90% payback rates... they just take years to do so. This whole operation is just a short term bac

If you look at the FDIC data for bank closures a lot of times the ultimate resolution is over 90% payback - the FDIC calls these "dividends". In some cases the payback is 100% to depositors and general creditors get some money. It

The assets will take a few years to fully wind down but are likely to payoff anywhere from 80-98% so the actual haircut won't be that large. The insurance fund will float the money until final resolution, then increase insurance premiu
