Nice. I live inside tmux as well. As far as I am aware, newsbeuter is no longer maintained, and the newsboat fork exists to pick the thread. Newsboat gets continual bugfixes and has recently added some commands that fill holes in the macro

I don't think it's paradoxical. I just get the impression you may have jumped to building models without carefully considering the exact phenomenon you claim to deconstruct. "Self-awareness" or "consciousness"

Looks like I mispelled the name. I was simply referring informally to Eliezer Yudkowsky and the LessWrong-style thoughts on optimization processes. You can read the initial idea here[0]. If you haven't heard of LessWrong before, then y

Is your definition actually accurate enough to capture instances of intuitive judgements that "this is a conscious being" without being overly broad to include "obviously non-conscious" things? By calling it a spectrum,

By that definition, a GPS module with an SSD is an "I". In discussions that invoke the words "self" or "consciousness", I find it common to hear pithy or clever definitions. However, rarely do those answers off

The frustration is inarguably real, but... Programming language syntax sucks because none of it maps to things that non-programmers know. Every time a new token is introduced, whether it be an ascii symbol or a word it's one more mappi

This reminds me of a nice sed one-liner I recently happened to craft. Do you ever collect families of functions in your shell scripts under different sections? Here's a nice way of printing out all the functions under a given section:

This hits home too hard. My job search is going so poorly, that I have started to doubt my technical value at all. Confusingly, personal one-on-one interactions with companies or hiring agencies almost invariably result in positive feedback

Typsetting is hard. I think the bulk of problems may come from an impedence mismatch between the expectations and reality of typesetting. How many people actually look at the output file texput.log? What about using the family of \tracing*

Enjoying the article. Looks like there's a math typo at the tail of the "Precision Bound" section: $$ \log\left(\frac{x e}{n}\right) \leq \frac{1}{n}\log(\eta) $$ is not equivalent to $$ \frac{xe}{n} \leq \eta^
