I usually go with them, better prices than most places decent search and a functional UI. Not amazing but neither is anyone else I've found.

This bit seemed off too: > The test [...] will make it easier to find potential blood developers for this rare blood type. Developers? Do they mean donors?

Rails won't die because Ruby is nice to build with and Javascript is a sadistic nightmare. I don't use it myself but I absolutely see the appeal. What more modern alternatives even attempt to compete on DX?

That sucks for sure, I did work a giant enterprise for a few years and it was plenty painful but not that bad at least. Well maybe it was that bad, because we didn't use make either, everything had to go through Jenkins and nobody both

I have more than once considered writing a Makefile shim that would check for just, install if needed and proxy all commands to it...

Maybe it's different kinds of projects then. For most of what I work with distribution would have nothing to do with the build system in the repo, only people who would ever have to deal with it are other contributors that likely have

Sure, really though I don't understand why installing a single binary which is available from several easy to use package managers somehow becomes an insurmountable barrier for people when `just` is involved. "If it's not alr

I like `asdf` a lot for this, but I actually don't use it for either of those examples (though it does have plugins for them). Ripgrep is in most package repos by now and all my dev machines have a Rust toolchain installed so I can bui

Security bulletin is posted up top on the blog page now, but I have to say it doesn't exactly give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. It falls a bit flat for me where you address the tracking of domains visited by users, I don't think t

After thinking about it for a good long ten seconds, yeah. It would be very easy to steal users' banking information with this. If you crack into one single bank account you have a decent shot at making over $2k right there, a skilled

Right, part of the idea is to close the gap in incentives for white hats looking for vulnerabilities to report and black hats looking for the same to exploit. You don't have to beat the black market price of a vuln because that route i

I respect the conservative approach for the kernel but I think a big part of the disconnect on this is right there in the continued treatment of Rust as the "hot new thing" and yet another fad. To me it's much more than that.

It doesn't seem reasonable to expect a developer to learn a new programming language? Staying on top of constantly changing tools is part of the job.

For some reason 8TB drives are consistently a worse value. I did need that much fast SSD but ended up getting two 4TB M.2 drives because it was significantly cheaper.

Using a different set of commands in the terminal versus scripts and documentation makes no sense to me, why would I want to learn two different ways do the same thing? Python does not expect me to use `open` in the REPL but prefer `get_fil

It's also just absurdly verbose for a language intended mainly for manual input. I get annoyed having to type out `sudo systemctl` multiple times in a row, in Powershell every single command is at minimum that long. Which makes it way

Great idea! Those things cost money though and users won't like paying up-front--they'll have to be sure to make up costs with obscene fees, the more obfuscated the better. To minimize pushback on the fees they should consider foc

Yeah I had no idea either, but I'm sorry to say it's going in the same bucket as using a real em-dash vs a double hypen--if it's not on my keyboard it's not gonna happen.
