Not quite no, I would be after something to turn passive speakers into active speakers.

Maybe I could use the Edison as a foundation to build something I've been after for a while. I'd like a 'thing' that would attach to the back of a pair of bookshelf speakers and allow me to stream music through the speak

Have any details come to light on how exactly the hack was achieved?

I have to put my hand up here and admit I got over excited and I was wrong. Thanks for correcting me.

I find it amazing that there wasn't a clause tying Notch and the other founders to the company, at least for a transitional period. Usually when you buy a games company it isn't the product you buy so much it's the creative t

Couldn't agree more, I even go as far to say Google seem a little out of touch here. Would this offer have helped Google become Google, probably not.

As far as I know banks tend to prefer dedicated lines rather than relying on the internet, but I guess that isn't always available.

As soon as the page came up I instinctively took my hand off the mouse and placed them on the cursor keys, which made me laugh.

I never really noticed I had trouble with words, not until I met my girlfriend who is somewhat of a words smith. It's been quite a revelation since we've been together, to the point that I now notice it myself. I've never bee

Guess this is the hacker news effect, but I can't get the website to yield a single result. Which is a real shame as it's a beautiful day in London town.

Trick of the eye there for a moment. I thought that girl in the photo had a robot LED making arm.

Wonder if the host advantage is taken into account (not that Brazil need any kind of advantage). As last time France hosted the world cup they won, yet they were not the best team in the tournament.

Not very often you find a hedge fund behind an open source project. I guess it makes sense really, as many quants will be happy to mess around in a python shell, having a C# shell will probably play nicer with the rest of the companies infr

I developed two titles with the Unreal Engine and whilst initially UnrealScript seems like an advantage it very very quickly becomes problematic. My favorite being the dependency of the C++ code on the script and the script on the C++, so i

An entire page detailing what you want from me, coupled with a 180 minute test. Yet in all of this there are only 4 bullet point sentences describing what you're offering me. That deal is not for me.

Yeah I agree, I did quite a bit of looking into it as well. In bootcamp I was able to manage a solid 125fps, yet when in OSX it varied between 70-90. Although I performed many tests I was never able to get the bottom of it.

Shocking that the PI can produce 133 fps and my 27" iMac Quad core monster gets a random and feable 70-90fps. Nice work though Simon.

I wonder what position this puts existing development houses that have shelled out $1 million dollars for use of the Unreal Engine.

It's interesting that this seems to be a move away from the world of realtime. Some of the articles on HN only appear in the top 30 for a few hours. This seems to grate against the idea of pending comments. Also it exposes HN to someth

I'd say C++ templates are a clear winner in this contest. Simple due to the sheer volume of unintelligible nonsense the compiler produces if there is an error in the template.

You ever sit there and wonder who the person is on the other end of the attack? Someone sitting there, I guess with not much on that day, decides to command their army of infected bots to attack github. Why github I wonder? Perhaps it provi

The iPlayer is pretty great and has gone from strength to strength. Things for me that I'd like to see (as I can see some of the devs on here) 1. Content - I see no reason why the BBC doesn't put all of it's content on the iP

Yes I believe you make a valid point. However the point of the tech demo was to show off the LODing, and the fog distance in my opinion was way too close, thus inbiting the work the author had done.

The main reason for LODing is to increase the draw distance. The demo seems to have implementing a LODing system, and then fogged the draw distance anyhow ... which is odd.

Blimey I remember looking at Jim'll Paint It about 2 years ago and his paint skills sucked (as do mine - coupled with the limitations of MS Paint). Now he seems pretty damn good. His 'Tragic Roundabout' is beautiful. I never
