In case you end up not dying, it makes it memorable enough so that you won't reiterate the action causing you to almost die. "Oh sh*t, that was traumatic. I'll never eat these gorgeous little berries if they caused that"

I'm in a totally different competition: how to get sh*t done quickly, get others to handle the hard parts and get good maintainability so that I can go home sooner?

To operate properly at the scale of hundreds of engineers pushing changes, you absolutely need a cluster of machines and a team to operate it. It is significantly cheaper and more efficient to pay a third party.

Absolutely. My initial comment was using Rust as an example only. It also applies to Go. But not to JS or Python, to be clear.

I never understood this state of things as well. Additionally, I can't picture a rationale for this decision, coming from Github.

My reply will be short, but hopefully insightful: Congratulations, you're curious and have an intellectual appetite! Some people do sports, some people collect stamps, some do RPG, some... and some are curious of academic disciplines (

As far as I'm concerned, my preference when learning a new language is to build (in order of preference): * a CLI tool * a backend service * a plugin to an existing tool * an HTTP API / web app You will note that a basic CLI tool

Additionally, on the other end of the spectrum, small quantities (3-4) of countable items don't need conscious calculations to be counted. Beyond 4, we need to sum the items consciously. Beyond 10 (or so), the error rate on quick quant
