I've never smoked (anything) or even taken a drink of alcohol. However, I don't really care if people have access to weed. I think it smells nasty and can seriously aid in people letting their lives stagnate but... 1) I don't

Oh yeah, I'm actually going to do a demo in the next week or two on HN. The idea is to provide a simple jQuery plugin to allow any element on your page to be drawn upon. Additionally, there is a way to sync that element up with a smart

Your first question hit me right where it hurts. I'm not a writer, I'm not even social and I suck at telling stories. However, I've always wanted to "write a book". I have a story in mind, I feel like there's n

I guess, I mean, I love software development and even if I were at home I would be doing it. Also, if I were leaving my day job to start my own business and I... wanted time off before doing it, I would be very concerned I was making a bad

Looks pretty neat. I'm at work so I only had a few minutes to play around with it. It seems really smooth and fun. I'll bookmark it to play around later. The concept is really cool. I want to see what some people have been able to

I've never taken more than a day/weekend between jobs. I've been in the workforce for 10 years, 4 jobs, 1 and 2 overlapped by a week, 2 and 3 overlapped by 3 months, and I took a weekend off between 3 and 4. Work is a reality

Seems like she would have been better served to contact HR about it instead of publishing it online. If I ran a company and one of my employees did that I would fire them in a heartbeat. I agree that the sign is stupid, but intentionally an

I agree with you, up to a point. You need someone with some experience to set those things up. I mean, obviously even with these alternate solutions you still need to be security conscious. However, I went the AWS route and set up my whole

Not who you were replying to, but that's not 100% foolproof argument. We know plenty of things about places/countries/things without being there.

This is awesome! I was literally working on a project today that needed websockets and I was so bummed out that I had to use Socket.IO and fallback into long polling. If you Heroku guys are still listening... I'm so fucking impressed t

Honestly? For a large project probably PHP/jQuery/Bootstrap, iOS, MySQL on AWS. For something smaller and quick I'd try to use Parse.

Hard to answer without knowing what else you've done. Assuming you're fresh into the computer science world, you could try taking the HTML beginners course on Code Academy. After that, choose a language or platform and run with it

Um, I might just be stupid I guess. I saw "if you're not using Omnigraffle 6" and took that to mean "If you're not using omnigraffle at all", so then I expected it to be a folder of assets. So if I open the zip

Man, these people are crazy suggesting $2k per week. That might "only" be $25/hr but it's going to take you 2 or 3 times as long as a pro dev studio to make the product (and as good as you are, you're still not goin

The presentation is awesome. Super clean, I love the logo and the video's that let you know just what this thing is. The blurbs of text were enough to get me interested enough to watch the video. The videos were clean and to the point.

The problem is that some people think that being incorrect or having a different opinion = trolling. If I honestly think that PHP is a great backend language ( I honestly think it's a FINE one), and I say it on HN, I know at least one

I really don't think your wording of your product is great. I think "A service that publishes an email sent to it as a website" is more accurate.
