Is this not a replay of the competition that happened between US homegrown Redstone rockets versus von Braun’s rockets for getting to orbit and moon?

It doesn’t help that a lot of modern synthetic fabrics hold up really well until small wear/tear of the fabric suddenly adds up to look tattered. Also, shopping at MEC 16 years ago was a different time.

It’s an interesting phenomenon how people go on through life with their belongings and not notice their age.

That project has fallen victim to people losing interest. A section for 2011 model year TVs has WIP tags for the last 9 years. This might as well have a perpetual under construction shovelling man GIF. After I install it, then what?

I always thought that under-screen cameras would come as a bug-eye lens, with the sensors between pixels. The pitch of modern mini-LED displays seems to have enough space between pixels to fit them in.

The article skirts around saying that not much damage is happening in two-shifting operation. What kind of damage is expected? Is two-shifting a sacrificial operational mode that’s planned to see the coal be sunset in the next decade?

Exercise tracking is a biggie for me. Integration with Fitness on Apple TV is extremely slick for HIIT and yoga. Also, the third-party Intervals Pro app has been my go-to running app. I started with Apple+Nike since 2010 and a Fitbit Charge

My closest solution would be to piggyback off my partner’s iPhone using family watch pairing, and use my own dumbphone.

Apple keeps a lot of owners addicted to their phones by making Watch support exclusive to iPhone. I’d love to go dumbphone and a Watch synced to an iPad at home, but this is not an option.

Nitpicking, but 0° to 1°C isn’t cryogenic, merely deeply hypothermic. Therapeutic near-body temp hypothermia is often used post-cardiac arrest, while recovery from hypothermic states as a result of misadventure has often been documented. (1

I can’t imagine this kind of stuff happens in the PRC. The upside to a tightly-controlled “infosphere” is that people who are at the controls and have rational thought can jump right in and quench the idiocy fires right away.

How was CGI output with enough scaling to look good on film, when the Spectrum only had composite output? Similarly, with early CGI like Tron, what was the render/target resolution for film?

NASA didn’t design for serviceability, but rather the NRO. There’s an old photo showing a Hubble mirror being ground by a technician in 1979. It’s a cute how-the-sausage-is-made photo, until you think about the timelines when Hubble was don
