From what I gathered of the talk, they mean unifying the build, debugging, and analytics tools. So no more need to have Terminal, Xcode, and Chrome Dev tools open

I asked the FB Engineers that were manning the Open Source booth at F8 today about this. They assured me that it wasn't a threat, or any change in ideology on their end as open source contributors. That they were also concerned with th

lol everytime something about React or Flux gets posted on HN, we get this massive comment thread debating how X React feature isn't best practices (Inline styles, full-app re-render, singleton dispatcher or whatever). Get over it nerd

This seems like a paradox. Facebook grants us unlimited rights to the software, unless we assert that we have unlimited rights to the software?

Suboptimal might be a better word. And it should be no surprise that most open source anything is suboptimal.

The way I think about it ('this' being like any other object), closures are just supplied a default 'this' object (window, in the case of web), and instead of providing a this argument via the argument list, you can choo

The article was a nice refresher about 'this' subtleties, but it put too much work into contrasting it against Java's this, instead of just laying out the actual JS rules. To me, 'this' is JS is a lot more self expl

You wouldn't really have to change the right click menu. You could put an invisible html div over top the images, and give them the correct link, instead of the raw decompressed image data. So a user would think they are right clicking

Why not use a node script for this one part? Seems to me pretty wise to use a javascript runtime when evaluating javascript. You can still use Go or whatever else for all your other tasks.

I'm sorry the web cookie hegemony is oppressing you. Come up with a better solution to filter bots and Google will hire you. Nobody is pushing this down your throat.

Yea according to a reddit post from a Googler this was more of a staged easter egg then a real bug. Google coding styles actually prohibit the use of unsigned integers in C++ code.

Should have gone with unsigned ints, YouTube! EDIT: Which is the solution they apparently implemented, converting signed to unsigned at some higher layer.

You're ignoring that most modern apps will give you rudimentary account access even before you confirm your email address. Which would be difficult to do if that account already exists.

Great question. Problems are solved by tools. Powerful tools can be built with code. So try first to think about what kind of tool would be helpful for you. How could a computer help you accomplish something that you couldn't do yourse
