Why is Über even mentioned? How about some details on the manufacturer of the seat the driver was sitting on, maybe what barber he usues too? Regardless, this is tragic if true, and my heart goes out.

A "yield return enumerable" is "delay executed" so evaluating it multiple times causes the yield-return execution to occur at every evaluation (if you haven't taken care to ToArray() or ToList() it). Do something like: var myBytes = Ge

The change detection algorithm is clever. But this is a classic memory vs. processor problem. The real trick here is that the Railgun service instantly adds massive amounts of cache to your service; it just so happens - if their claims ar

iPhone user here ducks Didn't I see a Google IO keynote 2-3 years back where Sergey demoed addresses, directions, links, etc. pushing from the sync machine to the phone? Did this never come to be? Or did it lack in functionality?

How can you not get yourself (OK, maybe there are validation checks) or a single friend to cover the last $28?

Oh, I totally agree: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4236351 But I wanted to read about it more in-depth and gain an understanding beyond my and your speculation. For whatever reason, I have a macabre pet interest in Groupon.

IMO the "general malaise" you and I feel is the minority opinion held by technically-savvy people. The 90% of Facebook users who are not could care less. The trick now will be whether Zynga can transition from the unlimited access to casu

tl;dr - focusing globally at the outset, instead of nailing it locally first, Groupon has set themselves up for failure. The article is a disappointment in that very little is actually said about Groupon. I was hoping for the nitty gritty

One major benefit over hardware? - it's easily changed. Almost certainly will you eventually be able to apply whatever skin suits your fancy. It also opens up very interesting opportunities for the homebrew scene.

I want to back this right now. I'm the creator of a mobile payments startup much in the same vein as Venmo. The "killer" app, IMO, is the ability to simply tap two devices together, enter an amount & pin, and ... profit! The problem

I love Miguel et al. but I tried for a long time to make a public ASP.Net (MVC2) site work. It would run fine for a few days but inevitably would become unstable where the Mono Apache process would runaway and put the CPU beyond 100% usage

Just an FYI (and you'll probably hate it more), but the controls(2) are not off. This is part of the new metro sensibility[1]. [1]: http://www.ditii.com/2012/05/22/github-windows-released-supp... (second image down)

The article is about using one (of the many) methods to develop native apps for Windows 8. This is not like PhoneGap - you have full access to the resources available on the device. Don't mistake the composition technologies (CSS, HTML,

I would submit that you are in a very small minority and your experience is very unique. > The overwhelming majority of the businesses on Groupon are failing. This may or may not be true. Even if true, I fault the failing business owne

Groupon needs to fail. The faster the better. Often the small business owners that are attracted to Groupon's service are not technologically savvy. They become starry eyed with the promise of new customers, business (and - ultimately -

I can't disagree more. First and foremost, if you have to keep quiet to survive then something is seriously wrong with your business model. Your product sucks and you either can't win over the competition or you're promoting only to the n

I believe what they're implying is that what's free is use of the infrastructure but each transaction through the infrastructure incurs a fee. Contrast that with a CC payment gateway where you're paying $30-$40 per month in membership fees
