lol. you're not that old. remember the days when Intel was kicking AMD's ass and AMD was mostly building a worse Intel clone? Raise your hand if any of the following say anything to you: K5, K6, Duron. If you raised your hand and

these things happen (maybe not at Google) and they are called UX studies. I have been part of them and it's very enlightening for the team that builds something and understands the ins and outs to see just how poor the experience is.

the way I read it is that management is to blame. there is absolutely no way the workers - no matter how exceptional they think they are - can thrive in an environment that does not enable this kind of behavior.

i think obesity is a risk factor but to call COVID a fat people disease is ignorant. There are many other risk factors (eg being immunocompromised) and you may get it (and long COVID) even without any risk factors.

HN readers are 1-2-5 years ahead what happens in the market. you can tell a lot of things that are coming down the pipe if you pay attention on HN. Once the "nerds" give up on reddit it will be an uphill battle to keep the site vi

lol. who do you think does the hard work of keeping the subs clean? agree that some mods could be scumbags but to generalize to all mods is a stretch. reddit without good mods is a guaranteed shit show

Also, to get better estimates you need to sometimes do some [research] work. Without it ykur guesses are even wilder but with it you have to ack that you've spent time on it, evenif you never get to do the actual work.

I don't think that's true. The numbers of lost mods/members will matter. Also, this isn't about having a voice.

We'll see. Reddit will not die in 2 weeks that's for sure. But some people will leave and maybe a viable alternative will surface as a result of this shifty behavior

Lol. Sure, make it worse and piss people off even more. What could possibly go wrong? The best bet reddit has now is to just stay quiet.

The Enterprise also tried solving the ridiculous Reddit api pricing, but could not interfere because of the prime directive.

This whole thing rubs me the wrong way. The age policy is not in place for an exceptional kid, it's probably in place as a result of some legal/common sense measures. This kid appears sort of clueless and the whole thing smells li

Pfff. The environment!!! Do you know just how much power a modern datacenter consumes? Also, if we start dictating what acceptable and what's not acceptable, where do we stop? U okay with me banning something you use?

Subs are not some abstract things where you just slap a new mod on and it's all fine. You may be abke to do this in extreme cases but there is no way this works for thousands of subs
