Well this is pretty much a given isn't it? It's just a SQL implementation. It doesn't say anything about the underlying storage and guarantees. Given that it runs on GFS and Bigtable, unless these tech supports ACID, don't expect Tenzing to

Heroku, GAE and other SaSS are great, if and only if they have everything you need. For my own purposes, most of the things that I do now involves PostGIS which mean I have to use a PostgreSQL server. The cheapest option for PostgreSQL on H

I'm actually a little surprised that no one has mentioned reveal.js yet. Different idea, but worth mentioning. Impress.js is more like those font animation we see lots these days. It's pretty cool.

There are literally 240 forks of this essentially abandoned and/or poorly maintained Python SDK since May 2010 I think, and I think they just put it back with a notice to say it's deprecated. To be honest, I think people just fork the hell

The Checklist Manifesto is a great book. Short and offers lots of insights in how to manage risks and minimize silly mistakes. Must read for every system administrator and programmer who want to make sure every deployment works as smoothly

I think at this point we really don't need more of these CSS supersets but more comprehensive CSS frameworks like Compass and web framework integration with these CSS frameworks, i.e middlewares and asset management tools. I for once would

This whole thread/process/event queue non-sense is really ruining my appetite. Mmm fried bacon sausage wrap on a stick… Guess what. When the packets come in from the network, they sit in an event queue. When Apache takes a request event, it

If you've been following this argument from the beginning (I'm very sorry to say that I have), you'll notice that Ted's point is not that you WILL do CPU bound tasks in Node, but that Ryan Dahl's misleading statements on Node.js's front p

I think this post is about ridiculing the childish behavior of the Node.js fandom. I have to agree that I've never seen anything quite like this before except the Church of St. Jobs. I always thought that we software engineers are reasonab

How is running 40 instances of node processes different from running 40 instances of a single threaded web server? How is running 40 instances of single threaded event loops better than running 10 instances of a process with 4 threads each?

I was thinking about the same thing. There's no auto-vivification in Python. Thing just blow up and you fix your code. You NEVER do this in real Python code. I'm tired of straw man examples...

Is it just me or is Brian Beck misunderstood Python idioms? What's with the try/except block? There's no auto-vivification in Python. So you just don't try to catch a NameError. You just let it blow up in your test and fix your code afterwa
