I recently selected Fortran for a greenfield project. The reasons were primarily (1) speed, (2) clean mathematical syntax, especially for elemental multi-dimensional array math, (3) clean array slicing syntax, and (4) arbitrary array indice

Somewhat interestingly, I believe this is actually Fortran 2003 at a minimum based on the use of iso_c_binding[0]. [0] http://fortranwiki.org/fortran/show/iso_c_binding

Is this code on github/online somewhere? As someone who does fluid dynamics in Fortran 90/2018, I'd be interested in taking a look.

It's a pretty bad misfeature though, since it's a feature you might accidentally use without realizing it if you don't use a linter.

Actually, the Apple store phones are all already set up this way: no passcode, no FaceID, swipe up to unlock.

Why do you not want to use your face? And I don't think the lack of a home button changes whether or not you have to use a passcode. I haven't seen anything to indicate that the new iPhones can't be passcodeless (though I don

I must be some kind of unicorn then. I used iOS 13 betas since beta 1 and never encountered any problems. In contrast, I recall having all sorts of problems with iOS 9, 10, and either 11 or 12 (but not both). In one of these other betas, GP

I'm curious how an issue he experienced in the simulator relates to the problems that occur with MCAS. The known problems with MCAS occur when the active angle of attack sensor fails. Perhaps the simulation was simulating AoA sensor fa

This was the case with Fortran 77 too, and for the same reason (punch cards). But modern Fortran (F90 through F2018) no longer requires formatting by column.

I switched back to Firefox from Chrome with the introduction of Firefox Quantum after years of failed attempts at switching back prior to that. Firefox really is first class again. I echo your suggestion to give it a try again.
