To be clear, for anyone confused about the "main HTML tag" in the title, this recommendation is essentially to eliminate <html><head></head><body></body></html>.

A very small-scale assignment with a work/difficulty level on the order of magnitude of an Advent of Code single day challenge seems reasonable. And a follow-up discussion afterwards is crucial to ensuring that the interviewer has put

I believe iCloud does otherwise work normally. Reminders is the only app I can think of (including all Apple and non-Apple apps) with any sort of obvious glitches, sync-related or otherwise. I'll give the reset a try--thanks!

I've found it incredibly glitchy. I have some reminders that somehow duplicate and show up multiple times (all at the same time), and others that will show up and instantly dismiss themselves. I can even be looking at my phone and see

Do you take this approach for jobs to which you actively applied in the first place, or only jobs for which they reached out to you first? I'm with your comment's parent: I don't think I'd have the guts to walk out of an

Apple's Reminders app is so glitchy that your interview task probably would've been vastly superior to the actual consumer product.

On the subject of counter-intuitive effects in traffic engineering, it also seems that adding more lanes to a highway actually makes traffic flow worse. Whenever a car changes lanes on a highway, a small traffic "shockwave" propag

I was just listening to the audiobook “Thinking Fast & Slow” a few hours ago which references this study and specifically notes that the researchers couldn’t find any other factors and that the order of the prisoners review was random.

Interesting--when I was in IT, the last non-defense company I worked at did allow local admin access, and it seemed to go reasonably okay. We definitely fielded more support requests because of it but nothing too crazy. Granted, that was a

Still, the idea that a even a "starter" freelance DevOps job could ever be $5/day, especially for a "long term" gig, is kind of depressing. It's way, way less than US minimum wage.

Two thoughts: 1. Ofalyn really wanted to hurry you off the chat. Seems pretty unprofessional. 2. It's a little painful to see some of those job postings. "Virtual staff needed for long term employment -- $65". Yikes. The gig

Your taxes should come out the same no matter where you fill them out. If you get different numbers between services, you're missing something on one of them.

If you were to start selling BMWs/Audis/Mercs, you might also find your reputation suffering if/when things go wrong shortly after purchase. You're probably better off sticking to reselling the more reliable brands.

In my experience nearly all standard old code will still compile just fine, except code which relied on compiler-specific extensions and directives. Unfortunately, there does tend to be a lot of code out there using these proprietary direct

I have the book Modern Fortran Explained by Metcalf. It does a great job of providing modern examples of traditional code as well as examples of the new features.

Exactly, it’d just let you confidently make a fool of yourself, it won’t automatically make you a skilled orator. The ideal approach would be to take propranolol, then use that confidence to take public speaking classes.

Honestly, there is a chance I’m dependent on it now. But I’m still okay with that being a trade off. So long as I always have at least 40 minutes notice before having to do public speaking, I should be fine.

Propranolol massively improved my quality of life. I used to get panicked at the prospect of public speaking, but with propranolol I feel like I could give a nationally televised State of the Union address with no problem. I take it only be

I write code in modern Fortran 2018, making extensive use of the new language features, so this is welcome news. I use Intel Fortran Compiler 2019 at work and gfortran-8 at home. Modern Fortran looks completely different from the old school
