It's called the "Rule of Textuality", a component of which is: "Store data in flat text files." This principle recognizes that text files are human-readable, easily editable with any text editor, version-controllabl

You don't need to drop $300+ on a Tom Bihn to have a totally functional backpack with a laptop sleeve, for cryin' out loud. So many backpacks have it, and it's not a premium feature.

Ha! I used to be a land surveyor before I was an engineer. I had one of those vests and yes, I did put a laptop in there a few times during lunch breaks when I didn't want to leave the laptop in the truck.

Good description of what Omarchy really is. It's for two groups of people: 1/ (biggest group by far) People who are new to Linux on the desktop and, to a lesser extent, want to get out of the macOS ecosystem 2/ Power users wh

So PYREX denotes the Corning brand, and pyrex the imitation of the original (that explodes in ovens)?

by wyclif 1y ago
Has anyone written a better explainer about the difference? Corning's entry isn't that helpful. Particularly interested in the safety issues and practicality in terms of kitchen use. Also, I'm told that IKEA's "MIXT

I have to admit, when I discovered this I was a bit disappointed. For a long time I thought it was just a great brand name somebody came up with instead of the founder's last name.

For a sec I thought the same thing. Anyway, "Leatherman" is a totally great brand name. So good, I wish I'd thought of it first.

You wouldn't if you are a software engineer or some other power user. The sad fact is Apple knows that the majority of macOS users are accustomed to an iPhone-like workflow, which is swipe-centric, not keyboard-centric.

That Apple would allow this development to happen without any reversal is astounding. If allowed to continue it could seriously damage their MacBook market share. Then again, they may not care that much as long as they have the iPhone custo

The Neovim Tutor is more comprehensive than the old school Vim Tutor. I recommend that people who want to get fast with the key commands go through it repeatedly until most of it becomes part of their muscle memory. When this happens, the l
