I don't see it as a wrong or right, more so a matter of informing the public. Everyone suspects that those devices are listening to them but it's usually brushed off as tin-foil hat stuff. Stories like this are just making people

It's not directly about leaking or espionage though. The indictment [1] says that he conspired to help crack passwords from classified government databases. [1] https://www.justice.gov/usao-edva/press-release/

Why would Twitter censor something like that? Edit: if this is a glitch from trying to combat bots Tweeting the URL, that just means you can trigger automatic censorship of any URL with a bot farm.

They need a warrant by law in most cases but ICE seems to be requesting this data without much to back it up. The standard approach is to challenge it and keep records of the interaction.

Putting aside the fact that companies can definitely challenge these requests... What tech stack is ICE storing and managing all of this data with that companies keep handing over to them?

You better have some good redundancy on those SD cards because I've run Pi clusters before and most of those cards go corrupt pretty quickly with any frequent number of writes.

I'm not ruling out that what they reported (or something resembling what they reported) happened. But it's been half a year and no evidence or corroboration has surfaced. That just seems odd.

...Or they just use Instagram as a platform to promote their work. If your content gets shared it's basically advertising but you're assuming that they don't do business other than just posting on Instagram.

I don't think there's anything weird about that at all. But suppose you did want to publish your content. For instance I make videos about tech and programming that I enjoy sharing with others and getting feedback on, so I post th

I value privacy as well, but I use Twitter for public things. To me it's not much different than having a public blog that data companies could scrape and store. Facebook and Instagram feel different to me just because people tend to u

Blue doesn't mean far left progressive. Being a Democrat in Texas isn't necessarily the same as being a Democrat in a more progressive state. So "blue" is an ambiguous term here.
