Hi, I would love to hear about your advisor role experiences with VC funds. Would you be up for a short chat/call? My email can be found in my profile. Background: Chemistry/Startups, looking what to do next with my life. Cheers!

Hi, That is a very good question. In my PhD I built, among other things, a very primitive parallel stirring system in order to speed up the synthesis of test batches. Although a very crude device, there was tons of stuff that I needed to op

I would love to use ATS, but it is not a easy language to learn and I find the error messages incredibly cryptic, and the syntax quite weird. Also, it seems to me that is pretty much a research language. What is the best way to learn it? Co

I see. Thank you very much for your explanation. I always thought that after so many years, there must be a testing framework, development tools and methodology to give a C developer the safety that his problem requires. What do people use

From a C-veteran perspective, what do you think about type safe (e.g. dependent types such in ATS, or F*/KreMLin, or other DSLs) languages that compile to C, or a subset of C? How could one get the safety promises that are observed in

As far as I know, the way how cases were counted changed three times since the beginning of the pandemic in China. However, I have no idea about the accuracy of their measurements or degree of correct reporting.

So dynamic linking makes sure they each dependency is loaded into memory just once? Could someone estimate how much software nowadays is bloated by duplicated modules?

The efforts to compile good numbers are a difficult task indeed. This is, after all, the first pandemic that hits the country for a long time. Not sure what happens at the interface RKI/Bunderland, but it seems the problem does not sta

Also: The degree of testing, and time of testing e.g. the false negative rate of Corona is quite high (forgot how much, need to look it up) in Germany due to the nature of the RNA based test.

Could you formulate your question in a more precise fashion? Here are some stats for Germany [1] as of yesterday: cases deaths 16,662(+19%) 47(+52%) I have a contact high up in a Gesundheitsamt. While I can not give out an

Not only the equipment - the real problem is a shortage of qualified personal (read: doctors and nurses) that can take care of people in dire condition. You can build as many respirators you want, if there is no one them to operate them and

The federal system is indeed much stronger than in other countries (local health, law enforcement, courts, parliaments, school policies, etc) due to lessons learned with fascism.

There are more: F* compiles to Ocaml/F#/C/ASM/WASM [1] and it's variant Low*, and ATS [2], which compiles to C. [1] https://www.fstar-lang.org/ [2] http://www.ats-lang.org/
