Thanks a lot. I'm a guy that likes to spin up MVP ideas and am always looking for quick+dirty solutions which I can swap out later if needs be. All of my searching is performed by basic queries, but I will definitely start to use these

Obviously the initial comment about most developers using macs was pretty dumb but as a mac user, I do use a lot of these things. Maybe it should be titled "tools for new developers using macs"? I don't use sourcetree, alfred

I disagree completely. This calculation is about the formation of a black hole from a collapsing star. There is no theory stating that the singularity of which the big bang is theorized to expand from was brought into existence from a colla

Yes I agree with your first point. I think the author really oversteps their bounds. I don't see how this calculation speaks to the existence or lack of existence of a initial/primordial singularity.

I agree that it seems as if the article is a bit overzealous as to the implications of this work (claiming singularities cannot exist, in particular the one from which the big bang expanded). But, your idea that something has "always e

I'm confused by you guys saying NN's today completely ignore time? If I have a network of Hodgkin-Huxley neurons and I integrate the equations, I'm integrating over time. I'm not sure how that is ignoring it? Disclaimer:

I agree, a really cool project which I would imagine could be extended to a "real" model without a ton of work. I imagine the amount of work to fork a javascript library which integrated a network of H-H model neurons to make it o

There is a serious amount of heavy lifting in the visualization department done here for us. I imagine forking this repo and adding a simple model to govern the neuron and axon behavior would be doable. Writing this off as "pretty pict

Our first computer was a Commodore 64! I loved it. But it is funny, I only dabbled in programming with it. I don't even know what language it was? I remember making the computer print my name over and over and having to add ",8,1&

I actually did some fighting and getting punched in the face really is the best learning experience when the goal is to learn how to protect yourself. If we didn't throw real punches than we would never learn how to handle real punches

Absolutely. I felt the part about the guy becoming an alcoholic because he became an entrepreneur to be really over-the-top.

Honestly, the consequences of the failing Barbershop are probably worse. He will probably lose a good amount of personal capital (unless he somehow got investors?) and his employment prospects will be to cut hair at someone else's barb

Yes, I'm trying to say that being an entrepreneur is stressful but it is just so glorified in our circles. This is one of the biggest reasons I wanted to leave the ivory tower of academia because I was so tired of the incestuous little

The implication that this gentlemen became an alcoholic because he quit his corporate job and became an entrepreneur seems pretty far fetched. The guy was probably either already an alcoholic or didn't actually become one. There's
