If you read the article it apparently was about a 15 year old not a 5 year old. The title is apparently misleading.

As I read more, I'm pretty sure the child in question was 15. It doesn't necessarily make it ok but it does seem like this article's title is pretty inaccurate. The conversation where the term "whale" was used was r

I think that there is some other concern about the general issue of clickbait or "fake news" that is entering this HN discussion. I didn't get it at first but now looking at it it does appear that the title is a little mislea

I see what you are saying. It seems the article is conflating different things to make it appear worse unless I too am missing the quote where they refer to a 5 year old as a 'whale.'

I'm a little unclear. If the account is owned by the parent and the child is using it to play the game, how does FB know it was a child? Did the specific employees cited learn from the lawsuit and then make the "whale" commen

I think this is closer to what I think has happened. The internet is used by such a large percentage of the population that "weird" sites now are going to be smaller in relation to sites that appeal to "the masses." The

I think it is much easier for a non-technical person to put up a website today than in the 90s. Today you need absolutely zero coding knowledge, not even HTML.

Walmart wanted to charge me $180-240 just to replace lenses in my frames. Even without a brand name it's still expensive!

Sure for some people this is important but many people purchase loads of clothing online as well as glasses. For me, not being able to try it on vs. not having to goto a shopping center is a tradeoff I usually accept with a smile. Luckily t

Haha, that's what I was wondering. How is this a monopoly if I'm able to buy glasses for $25?

And Walmart is still very expensive. I commented elsewhere this but they wanted $180-240 just to replace lenses in already existing frames.

I've been wearing glasses for over 25 years, the last 5 or so years I've been buying them from Zenni and it has been great. The best pair of glasses I've ever owned were about $25 from Zenni. I used to wear contacts a lot mor

I work for a small company and do lots of work that would be nice to just share with my boss through a service like this versus having to deploy. I think it's more for a testbed than a replacement for actual web servers.

What about AR? I've heard a lot of people make the 3D/VR comparison prediction. I think it's reasonable to think VR and AR could have very different fates.

Hmmm...I saw another commenter mention that they think VR will go the way of 3D televisions. I really doubt that. I can't imagine anyone was really ever in love with 3D televisions. There is a modestly different experience vs 2D but no
