Of course, I understand that they made that decision. I was just replying to this: > of cause generics can make your code slower, what did people expect. It's not unreasonable that some people might have expected monomorphization.

I think the reasoning is that for something that's commonly used for many different types, you won't go through the effort of re-implementing that function for each type (it may not even be feasible to do so). Which means you'

From the article: > Monomorphization is a total win for systems programming languages: it is, essentially, the only form of polymorphism that has zero runtime overhead, and often it has negative performance overhead. It makes generic cod

I think that’s the point. When every app uses a different set of UI primitives, there’s no consistent UI to become accustomed to. Instead you have to become accustomed to each individual app.

If you’re doing a low carb diet, you probably want high fat and moderate protein.

Carbs increase insulin more than fat or protein. Insulin is a fat storage hormone, so having carbs with your meals means you’re likely going to store more of the calories you consumed as fat.

More hardware means you can do more things. Yes, lots of software is slow and bloated for no reason. But sometimes you want to be able to do more than the current hardware allows. And it's not like the rustc devs haven't been work

But you don’t write your own framework, you write a program. Not trying to make something too generic can keep things much simpler.

I don’t think GMO is necessarily bad, but while companies are working on ways to make plants more robust, I doubt they’re taking the long term effects on human health into account.
