There isn’t a way to fight disinformation other than helping people get better at critical thinking. Using censorship to fight disinformation just means we’ve picked some group of people that get to decide what the “truth” is.

Yeah, even Maven seems much faster than Gradle, even on a clean build. Neither are especially fast though.

Having spent a lot of time writing both Clojure and Rust professionally, I think a lot of the benefit you get from a REPL is making up for the lack of a good type system and good IDE support. I also find that the support Rust has for unit t

I suspect it has a lot to do with your familiarity and level of experience with Rust. Probably also how much you’ve written code in languages with similar features/idioms. I also find Rust to be quicker for prototyping than Python. How

I think it will make the code reviews potentially more interesting, as it removes a class of things that needed to be dealt with before.

It depends on what kind of efficiency you care about more. Static linking can allow optimizations across library boundaries.

> Often you want to add validators to your setters. Just named arguments won't cut it. Are you suggesting that arguments can’t be validated in a constructor? I don’t think I’m following the argument.

But if that’s the case, then a record is the wrong data type for what you’re doing anyway, since you can call the primary constructor at any point with those same un-validatable values. It’s not “with” that’s problematic. If a record doesn’

I don’t think properties add anything that getters/setters don’t already give you (other than slightly different syntax). I think the “right” way to replace the need for builders is to add support for named arguments.

I don’t believe this is true. From my reading of the document, all with expressions go through the primary constructor.

Any reason not to do something like Rust + Wasm? Seems like it’d be a better fit. I don’t have anything against Java, but it seems like you lose a lot of the benefits of using when you take away allocation.

I believe that's what dependent types allow you to do. However, even in weaker type systems you can get a similar effect by just creating a PrimeNumber type, and for functions that require a prime number, only accept PrimeNumber. Then
