I’ve been making a “toy” SaaS website solo, both as a dry run for future endeavors and as a way to practice broader tech skills than my day job requires. (“Toy” = real website, but not one that I expect will make more than a few hundred dol

Not the person you replied to, but as someone with very similar tastes, there’s a Time Team spinoff called “Extreme Archaeology” that’s pretty good, and some BBC specials with “Lost Kingdoms of [Region]” titles that I found scratched the sa

I had the exact same experience and was really disappointed, as I’ve been a happy DO user for a long time. I really wish status pages included basic health checks - if only as an indicator that there might be something wrong.

I got a Logitech G915 keyboard about a year ago. Its default backlight pattern without official Logitech (Win/OS X only) drivers installed is a hideous RGB wave pattern with varying brightness. Only reason the keyboard has been usable

Yeah, your comment made me curious, so I did a bit of digging and it looks like there's been at least one paper published in that domain: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S03054.

Anyone know of digital archaeology projects in this vein that could use avocational volunteers? I love the field and think there's a ton of potential, but sadly grad school isn't in the cards right now.

SQLite is what you're looking for. If you want to use the CLI, .format csv .import <path to csv file> <table name> Alternatively, read your data into pandas and there's extremely easy interop between a DBAPI c

Are you sure you understand the content of the link you shared? It’s talking about a hypothetical legal framework, not actually concretely descrambling the input and outputs of a mixer service.

I'm finding this whole comment thread a bit hard to read, because this is at least the third Stonehenge special Mike Pearson has done with the BBC at this point, not to mention plenty of appearances on Time Team. You're pretty spo

I don't know if Dr. Hotez is directly involved, but St. Luke's, which is a Houston-based hospital heavily affiliated with BCM/TCH (where Dr. Hotez works), started trialing this in patients a few days ago.

You could try dumping your dataframes to an in-memory SQLite instance using the to_sql method and then running queries on that. Not sure how performant the to_sql bit would be, but I'd expect joins in SQLite to be blazing fast compared

Fun experiment: use google maps API to search a major US metro area for medical practices. Pick out any websites that don't use TLS. Crawl them for HTML forms that include common PHI keywords. You'll find a lot. Those same practic

A dashcam/helmet-cam upload website that lets people tag videos by license plate number and state has been something I've been wanting to do for a long time. Can't believe it's not a thing already.

Anyone able to speak to the ease of use/maturity of OpenPose? I've been considering a hobby project for video-based analysis of tennis matches and it seems like it'd be the perfect tool.

Nord has a couple thousand severs, and each has their own key. In order to decrypt traffic, you'd have to intercept some traffic to decrypt, which would require a MitM attack unless you're an ISP/state actor.
