I think that CM tools are complimentary to Docker (TV did not kill radio..), but at least some of your points do have emerging solutions. For example, ssh keys: Kubernetes has a concept of "secret volumes" that are used to distri

Why not Kubernetes? It run's on all major cloud platforms, VM environments and bare metal. Supported by every major player except Amazon (for obvious reasons, why would they want to support something that makes it easy to migrate awa

Those services are incredibly proprietary to AWS. I really question why companies would want to tie themselves to a single cloud provider.

I think the time-frames of when this will happen are debatable, but not the general arc of events. Machines and AI continue to get incrementally better. There is no reason to think that this incremental progress will magically stop at some

Most of us can not accumulate enough shares to make a meaningful difference. The corporate elite are gifted millions in shares/options. It's pretty difficult for someone making 30K a year to compete with that.

I think it worth mentioning that setting up networking in Kubernetes is largely a problem for deployers - not so much k8 users. There are a variety of hosted, virtualized and bare metal solutions available. The CoreOS folks have some nice a

In theory yes - but that strategy doesn't always work. Sometimes the implementation of the data store changes between releases - requiring an upgrade or data migration. For large datasets that can take hours / days.

Previous innovations have essentially automated human (or animal) muscle power. A tractor is vastly more powerful than a horse. AI (or whatever you want to call it), is coming - perhaps not as fast as its proponents would like, but I think

Docker and Kubernetes turn cloud providers into a commodity - which is why Amazon is not keen on promoting them more than is required to satisfy market demand. If you are the market leader, lock in is your strategy; Hence the launch of so m

This is awesome. The existing single node solutions have been painful to get up and running, and always seem to be missing some feature or other (DNS, for example).
