There is room for more than one competitor in the space, and I suspect this is going to set the standard. The integration with chromecast is really neat. I'll be getting one.

Kubernetes has a "PetSet" proposal that looks like it has some overlap with Supergiant. See https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/issues/260 For the details, but the gist (as I understand it) is

Agree. I think Spaces is aimed at Slack. If they keep unlimited message history that is going to be a really compelling feature.

I think Spaces is aimed at the slack / hipchat space - not so much messaging.

If the generated taxes flow back into the economy by building roads, bridges, etc. - that is considerably better than sitting in an offshore bank account.

Surely by that logic we should give up trying to tax the rich altogether. The rich will always try to dodge taxes, but we can make it harder, say for example by spreading it out over different forms of income and consumption. We should also

For 99% of business documents, Google Docs works just fine. Your needs are different, and that is cool - but it does not relegate web apps to "toy" status.

What's wrong with cloud related? Google Music is the cat's meow - and will locally sync all of your music down to your local folders. Seems like the best of both worlds - you get a secure backup, and the ability to have local copi

Cloud. I think they are very serious about becoming the market leader in this space. They are behind AWS, but if they can leverage the same technology that they use internally, they will have a compelling offering.

The more people that use ad blocking, the more important directed search becomes. Which Google is pretty good at. I don't think ad blocking represents armageddon for Google.

Last time I priced out AWS, Azure and GCE, Azure was by far the most expensive - by a long shot - at least for our usage. I think Microsoft is looking to capture their F500 base that are highly Windows/AD-centric.

Honest question: Have you actually used GCE for any length of time? Having used both AWS and GCE, and I vastly prefer GCE. It is simply easier to use and offers better price/performance.

Is there objective evidence that government is "too big" in all cases? When you look at health care as an example - the US seems to have a rather inefficient system when compared to single payer (government) in other western count

You can add government health care to the list as well (at least for most of the west - excluding the USA). Single payer provides better outcomes for the population at a lower cost per GDP.
