A reminder that we basically built cities around the cars, cause they still need fuel, break and drown in the mud. What is your similar plan for LLMs? Analogies always end somewhere, I’m just curious where yours does.

I think this excitement reflects the fact that most devs are shoemakers without shoes. They could get cursor-like experience decades ago by preparing snippets, tools, templates, editor configs and knowledge bases. But they used that “a mont

This sums up my experience as well. You can get an idea or just a direction from it, but itself AI stumbles upon its own legs instantly in any non-tutorial task. Sometimes I envy and at the same time feel sorry for successful AI-enabled dev

Styles are possible with native text view, otherwise we couldn’t have fonts and colors and contenteditable and selection within <p>. I think you mistake “input core” with “web input element” here. The core I’m talking about is a text

Native doesn’t mean web. I meant just an input as it works everywhere on a platform, input core. Partially agree on the web sentiment, it just lacks a proper model, both positioning and styling, for what we call apps.

Wrapping input into a label also works. Not sure why people tend to separate the two. And also why browsers started separting these. It’s a checkbox and radio that should contain a text, not vice versa.

Would. The problem was never access to knowledge, but the unwillingness to get it and start creating value. Some people are talking animals who need no post-scarcity future and most people just listen to what’s being told. Quite a tangent,

Checked my whatsapp and tg, both use absolutely native inputs. The selection handles & menu, the hold-spacebar movement, the hold-to-magnify feature on ios is the same as everywhere else. If that’s not native, they did a great job for n

This. They can have all the deviations they want, but “input core” must be native. If a framework ignores it, users will notice and frown upon it immediately. When flutter came out publicly, first I thought no way it can get away with cus

I doubt that complexity of a language is comparable to that of a widget library. After the text input cell and scrolling window it’s basically dumb geometry/drawing code all along.

OSI is not an “open-source” trademark holder though. It’s basically an opinion, cause current OSI-approved licenses do not include this exlicitly. I guess I’m built different, but all this open-washing noise makes no sense to me. I don’t th

The problem is that if you only have a raw SQL database, adding these layers is a lot of work. And there’s almost zero open-source concerns about that. Apart from that, yep, appending a change/fix/action-describing document with a

Personally I can never get line-space or line-height vs height/min-height/padding/font-size or whatever. That’s why I’m using e.g. bootstrap. If I just write css, my inputs receive 1px vertical scroll on some devices, but not

Same experience. Also it’s a matter of taste, but its cyanish primary theme looks meh and it’s pretty hard to find a good theme. Feels like it could win 2x userbase by simply adopting better default colors.

Doesn’t it do that because chrome still has the corresponding api? How exactly will chrome deny chrome-based browsers of ad blocking (aka ending mv2 support in marketing speech)? The same applies to opera either way.
