They could veto all laws that don't change this. So to me it as democratic as Democratically elected representatives want it to be. That being said I have to agree it is not ideal if they can only approve or veto.

I'm pretty sure people are mostly upset with the current inflation level, not the inflation level back when it was low. But I guess those people should just be grateful it was not higher before, and just be less greedy.
