Yellen just repeated the exact federal reserve policy, like every treasury sec/federal reserve chairman has done since forever. Kinda wild to define that as corruption, but to each their own. Instead, why don't you look at how man

Aw man I love Expect. We have a bunch of legacy stuff and Tcl/Expect powers most of it. Every few years people try to replace it with python and pexpect, there was a nodejs implementation, and perl. They sorta worked, but anytime you h

You should watch more of Practical Engineering! The dude is super knowledgeable, has great graphics and physical experiments he uses to show his point, and every video is fascinating.

Thats the thing, it isn't going to BE a thrashing. Unless starlink has some way to create capacity from thin air, they'll end up with the same exact resource contention that ViaSat/HughesNet face now. Musk still has to obey t

Aggregate yes, but not where you need it all the time! Customers are not evenly distributed across the earth, they are concentrated in regional areas on land. If you look at usable bandwidth (ie, satellites verhead at any point) LEOs drop o

I've been using LXD for over a year now, its quite nice if you can get over the snap/ubuntu/canonical link. I think a lot of people are confused of its purpose- We still use K8s and docker everywhere for new applications, but

I have several pieces of code from 5+ years ago that I have zero idea how they work or how I came up with that approach. Its proof that past me was much smarter than present me.

HUGE use in really niche spaces. FPGA development uses it because of really embedable/flexible syntax, and a lot of software integration testing uses it for things like Expect (whose Tcl implementation is still far and away the best).

A better way to phrase it (..even before tcl 8) is that everything can be TREATED like a string. Numbers arent being converted to and from strings, things like sockets/files arent strings (their handles are though!)

Thats not quite true since the early 2000s, when dictionary structures came around. Tcl also has strong built in object oriented support since 8.6 (2012) so if you like that sort of thing its there. If you are dealing with quoting issues th

I would like to know the percentage of female founders that tried to get VC dollars before condemning VCs. Its probably pretty bad, but if the field is 4% female founders and 96% male then I'm more curious how to increase female founde

Thats actually not totally true. Internally, Tcl has two value types, string representation and actual value representation. Everything DOES have a string-representation though- some are made up (like file handles, fileX) and some are just

Python as a language is implemented on almost every platform out there- You can just take this source code and run it there, instead of compiling for the target hardware.

Presenting alternatives is a pretty open source idea, no? Thats exactly what this project is doing for tmux! Its not an attack but a discussion point.

I don't think the expectation was for the candidate to get through the whole thing- More to see how much they could get done in a deadline (30 minutes). Its a good method to see what a developer values in an implementation- Do they tak

Do you mean get all the features in windows 10 ported to iOS and android? Cortana integrates pretty deeply into the OS for that to happen.. Apple/Google would have to allow it and THATS not happening :)

I work for ViaSat (the satellite provider for FlyFi)! You'll never have latency fast enough for "gaming" speeds, as your signal has to travel halfway to the moon and back meaning a physical limit of at least 500ms. Not good

symbols are about as flexable as text- If you have a symbol as a sun, I might interpret that as heat, light, the sun, a god, or anything really. Depending on the area you are from. Knowning a language ensures that when you say X you mean X.

Have you seen Tcl's dictionary construct? Its built in and extremely flexible in creating data structures, as you can define them from the ground up.

This just isn't true, and hasn't been true since 92. Please go and take another look, its a very surprising language that more often than not beats or is comparable perl/python/js for speed.

We use TCL for almost everything that isn't C/C++, its insanely flexible. You can completely redefine the syntax if you want as there are NO keywords. Meta programming is easy, as all TCL commands follow the same format- Its only
